A club gathering at Holcott water

Information

The Anglia Marine Model Boat Club was formed in 1994 by a few boat enthusiast since which it has grown in strength to over 80 members. We meet twice a month on a Tuesday evening to discuss club business and to sail our boats. We build and sail most types of craft from the smallest dingy to the largest battleships but only sail electric, steam, and sail in any scale. We are a very relaxed club and welcome both single and families alike but because of safety reasons we do have a few rules and regulation which are for the benefit of all members and the enjoyment of the hobby.

Model Boat Show at Warwick 2004

Warship Weekend - 2005 at Holcott

We also take great pleasure in displaying our boats at local rallies and gatherings during the summer. During these events we allow the general public to 'have a go' on our mobile pool using our club boats. We also have the use of a local pond where we gather most Sunday afternoons subject to the weather.

We are always happy to welcome new members to our fascinating hobby of model boating.

Daventry Model Boat Club open day at Daventry Country Park

Daventry Model Boat Club celebrates its 25th Anniversary in 2005 having been formed in 1980.

Club Chairman, Adrian Clutterbuck says, “We sail at our local Country Park Lake and together with our portable display pool and club road trailer, travel to Steam Rallies and Exhibitions throughout the year to put on Model Boat Displays".

The picture on right shows part of our static display at 2005 Quainton Steam Rally.

Like most clubs, with highs and lows, and now less than 20 members we are still going strong!

We sail most types of radio controlled boats and ships including warships, tugs, lifeboats and sail boats (yachts), and are sure anybody interested in scale models will find it very interesting as most of the ships are 'scratch' made and not from kits.

Please spare the time & come along to see us.
Pictured above is a fully operational remote control three foot long shark built by Club Member Stuart Underwood.

On the right is a Thames Spritsail Barge model sailing on our own display pool.

New members are always welcome

The lake is large with a flat path all round with a depth suitable for recovery of boats by means of a member with 'waders' so is very suitable for that first sailing.

Members are given a pass allowing free entrance for themselves and their car where they can sail their boats on the large lake pictured above.

We are a friendly club with members of all ages and welcome anybody who would like to come along.

Why not come along one Sunday and experience the advantages and fun of being in a club.

Put simply, we’re a group of like-minded individuals who enjoy scale modelling.

Our membership covers a wide range of interests and skills, including military modelling, figure painting and collecting, scratch building, sculpting, etc. Some of our members have enjoyed success at many of the local and national competitions and all are more than happy to discuss their techniques with others.

Don’t however, let this put you off, we’re not a bunch of “rivet counters”. We pride ourselves on offering a warm and informal reception to anyone interested in the hobby regardless of their level of skill - novice or old master - all are welcome. Although, as our name suggests, we are primarily a military modelling club, some of our members enjoy many other aspects of our hobby, such as Sci-fi and fantasy modelling for example. Basically, if you make models you’ll feel at home at our club.

We meet on the third Tuesday of every month, (except for December, when it’s usually the second Tuesday) at the
Working Mans Club,  Lower Street,  Great Doddington, Northants. Meetings usually start at around 7:30pm.

We try to arrange guest speakers for many of the meetings. In the past we’ve been honoured to welcome WWII veterans, re-enactment society members, ex-military personnel from many different eras and conflicts, as well as various presentations from some of our own members.

Interested ?

Then why not contact us or just simply come along to our next meeting.

Racing for the first time at KMCC

When you arrive, you'll probably find a number of people busily laying out the track and everyone else getting their cars ready - so you might find no-one takes any notice of you!

Don't worry: we're a friendly lot, so if you go to Race control (the place with the computer, and where the race co-ordinator sits) you'll find someone there who can let you know what's going on.

Information

The Kettering and District Model Railway Society meets every Wednesday evening at the Henley Centre in Kettering (behind the bus garage). We usually gather at about 7.45pm and leave at about 10.00pm with a break for tea halfway through.

The club members have a wide range of interests, from 'N' gauge to 'O' gauge, through to 'TT' ,HOm and '00' gauges, covering locations from Britain, America and Continental Europe.  They also cover differing skills such as wood-working, rolling stock construction, electrics and electronics, track construction and track laying, construction of buildings, either handmade or from kits and scenery (trees, bushes, grass areas, rock faces, rivers, etc.). You may, however,  prefer to set up your railway straight from the box; we cover all tastes.

On the last Wednesday of each month we hold a 'running night'. We have a large circular layout with track in 'N', 'TT/HOm', HO/OO', and EM gauges,  where you can run your own rolling stock and/or watch your fellow club members trains run by.

Once a year, usually in the late spring or summer we have a club outing of railway interest, usually a preserved railway on standard gauge or narrow gauge track and sometimes on open days when there may also be a model railway exhibition.

If you are interested in railway modeling or any of its aspects come along and see us any Wednesday evening.  You can talk about your interests with any club member and look at our layouts and projects.

Society Mission

Building & running of model railway layouts providing modelers of all standards with instruction within an environment that is both friendly & warm

History of the Society

The society was founded in 1965 and had meetings in the Tinderbox in the Corby Candle Public House. In 1966 the Society moved to an ex. home guard hut in the West Glebe Park. On that site our new building now has been erected, which has a 25 year lease. So the society has secured its future.

Information

The Milton Keynes Model Railway Society was formed in July 1969 after a group of local modellers provided a static display of locomotives on a model of a large motive power depot at the Bletchley Arts & Crafts Festival. This generated a considerable amount of interest and it was decided to form a club.

The first two meetings were held in the briefing room of the local fire station. A club room was obtained in the basement of a local school and served the club until replacement accommodation was obtained in the former outbuildings of the old Council Offices in 1975.

In 1994, MKMRS were asked to move to Bletchley Park, the former wartime headquarters of the intelligence services, then being established as a museum complex.

Since then, the club has worked to provide a permanent exhibition of model railways. In addition there are numerous displays on the role of railways in wartime and military railways. A display case containing models from the World War Two Railway Study Association gives an insight into some of the models built and used during the 1939 - 45 period both at home and in mainland Europe.

MKMRS celebrated its 30th Anniversary in October 1999.

Affiliations

MKMRS joined the Chiltern Model Railway Association in 1970 and have been active members since, participating in many exhibitions organised by member clubs.

MKMRS is also affiliated to The Model Railway Club and is a member of The World War Two Railway Study Association.

MKMRS also has close links with the Bedford Branch of the Historical Model Railway Society whose Milton Keynes meetings are held bi - monthly in the MKMRS club rooms (see Club Diary page for information)

Club nights

Main club night is on a Tuesday (from 1930) with a construction evening on Fridays (from 1930). On club evenings, members work on various projects and socialise. In addition members staff the open days and operate layouts for visitors when the Park is open to the public. A roster system is in operation.

All activities take place in our extensive club rooms at Bletchley Park.

ABOUT PETERBOROUGH MODEL FLYING CLUB

PMFC was formed in 1938 and is one of the oldest and most successful model flying clubs in the country. PMFC is a multi discipline club with flying sites for free flight, control line and radio control (although we are not a predominantly radio club).

Members of PMFC are a group of like-minded people who enjoy the challenge of building and successfully flying miniature aircraft, whether it be for fun, in low key club competitions, or in national or even international events.

The BMFA, with around 37,000 members, offers not only a national voice to support our aims, but also the organisational infrastructure for competitions and most importantly, comprehensive third party insurance cover for all members.

Above all we fly for enjoyment in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere and our members are all more than happy to offer the benefit of their experience and knowledge to others, whether a beginner or a seasoned old campaigner - you never stop learning with aeromodelling!
During the winter months we organise several indoor flying evenings and have weekly `natter nights' at the
Peakirk Village Hall, Peakirk from 8pm until 10pm.
PMFC is affiliated to the national body representing aeromodelling in the UK, The British Model Flying Association (BMFA).
Control line models are flown at The Embankment, Peterborough and, during the summer months, we meet weekly on Friday evenings at Ferry Meadows for free flight models.
Sadly I/C models are not permitted at this site.
Membership of the BMFA is a condition of membership of PMFC - one of the very few conditions we have!

New members are always welcome

All of our meetings are informal and friendly with the first meeting of each month having a demonstration or talk, and the second meeting of the month a more social and club meet.

We also attend various Steam Rallies and Town and Village shows in order to promote model making to a wide a range of people as possible.

We have been responsible for Model-Ex shows in Raunds, Northamptonshire, since the club formation in 2002.

During these shows we have raised nearly £5000 for the school, and have had around 5000 people through the door.

MILTON KEYNES SCALE MODEL CLUB is one of the countries top scale plastic modelling clubs, with members from Milton Keynes and the surrounding areas.  Our members build all types of models. The current types of models built include; aircraft, Armour, ships, figures, cars and science fiction.
One of the strengths of the club is the willingness of all members to share their knowledge and experience with others. We aim to help others improve their models and encourage the newcomer or old hand. We can show you how to make it, paint it, finish it, weather it and display it. In short, you are sure to come away from every meeting having learned something new.
Whether you regard modelling as a  pass time, making no more than a couple of models a year, you are a younger modeller keen to get more information, or you have years of experience, but always worked alone, the Milton Keynes Scale Model Club has something to offer.
Our members build all types of models covering subject including aircraft, Armour, ships, figures, cars and science fiction.

If there is a scale plastic kit of it we have probably made it.

Kits are often grouped together to form a scene known as a diorama such as the picture on the left.

Anybody who is interested in this hobby and lives local to Milton Keynes please come along and meet us.

Real live steam in miniature

Public running 2008
6th.July
3rd.August
7th.September
5th.October

(all between - 2.00pm to 5.00pm)

The Northampton Society of Model Engineers is a group of dedicated modellers who build live steam locomotives which are capable of pulling trains that people can ride behind. The locomotives are just like the real thing with coal burning fire boxes under scale size boilers producing steams which powers the train. Wonderful to see, hear, and smell, and great to ride behind.
The running tracks are divided into two sections.
The first is a 1000 foot long elevated track combining both 3.5" & 5" gauges.
The second is a 1700 foot long ground level track combining 5" & 7.25".
The Club was formed over 50 years ago and currently has over 70 members who are actively engaged in the hobby of model engineering.

The site is extensively wooded and in the spring time has a beautiful display of spring flowers. In the summer time it is nicely shaded and pleasantly cool when the sun shines
On public running days both the elevated and the ground level tracks will be operating trains and circumstances permitting rides will be available behind various scale model traction engines.

All rides are priced at 50p

Toilets and refreshments are also available & parking is free.
