Plastic Kits
|
| A kit is a
collection of parts which the modeller assembles together to form a
finished model.
|
 |
T & R Models have a wide
range of kits covering all sorts of subjects, from ships, aircraft, cars,
and motorbikes to military models such as tanks, together with figures to
help complete the scene. |
|
Plastic assembly kits come in a box with a
picture of the finished model on the outside and the parts complete with
instructions contained within. |
| Models now come in many scales to
suit the space available when finished or to match up with a railway
layout scale size. |
 |
| Generally glue and
paint are not included and would have to be purchased separately. |
| Please note that the
glue required to assemble plastic kits is only available to people over
the age of 18 years. |
 |
The paint; which is normally
enamel, is available in many colours and we stock Humbrol, Revell and
Railmatch ranges to ensure you get the colour you require. We also stock
many types and sizes of brushes together with thinners to suit. |
| It is always a good
idea when selecting a kit to have with you a list of the paints you
already have at home so you only buy the colours you need when in the
shop. |
| Assembling a kit is a skill that
will develop over many years and we have kits to suit all skill levels. We
also stock different makes such as Airfix, Revell, Tamiya, Italeri and
Monogram so you get a bigger choice and a larger price range. We have a
policy of stocking small quantities of many sorts rather than large
quantities of a few types. |
 |
 |
The time required to assemble and
finish a kit can vary from just a few evenings to a three month project
depending on the time spent each day and the modellers' skill.
Modelling from kits can be a very satisfying
hobby which in these days of stress can also be good for your health. |
| In the shop we have
catalogues from the major manufacturers so you can select a kit if it is
currently not in our shop or warehouse. We also have addresses of local
clubs on our notice board that you can join, and meet people and exchange
ideas and conversation.

CARDBOARD KITS |
| We stock cardboard
kits which are the correct scales for model railways. Please don't be put
off by the word 'cardboard'. Remember most goods today are packaged in
cardboard and you know how strong they can be. When cardboard is glued
together in several directions the construction becomes very strong.
We stock both Superquick and Metcalfe kits
and glues suitable to assemble them. The advantage with card modelling is
that they already have the details on the outside and range from houses,
shops, stations, platforms, factories, and many more lineside buildings.
They can easily be modified and joined
together (just like real ones) so you can design your own building.

MATCHSTICK KITS |
| I am sure you have
all seen models made of matchsticks and wonder how many boxes of matches
that took and how long it took to collect them. We at T & R Models
stock bags of matchsticks in quantities of 2000 and 10,000 together with
safety matchstick cutters that children can use, and glue. You don't have
to save matches for years before you can start!
If you prefer we also stock matchstick
assembly kits for those who prefer to follow a known design.

SCRATCH BUILDING |
|
For those of you who prefer to design their
own buildings or copy a photo we stock most of the basic materials to
build your own models. These include plastic sheet which can be plain or
embossed with the texture of stones or brick, plastic and metal extrusion
in shapes like round, strip, angle, tube, etc; balsa, hard and ply wood.
So come along to our shop and see the large
range of kits, and materials available. They can make an ideal gift or
perhaps be bought for someone who is recovering from a stay in hospital
and needs something to do at home.
We as modellers ourselves, are always happy
to help and advise. |
