Monthly In-shop

To
try and encourage new customers into the hobby we are having 'theme'
events each month in the form of a local club or individuals coming
along to our shop in Wellingborough on a Saturday and showing off their
skills and offering advise to customers. These are informal events
and intended as an introduction to the hobby of model making so why not
just come along and have a chat.

January 2005
On the 15th.January Bob Maggs
brought along two of his magnificent radio controlled model ships so
fellow modellers visiting our shop could see what can be achieved.
Martin Dale also came along with his R/C scale sailing ship which was
'scratch' made from wood complete with full sails. |
 |
 |
Bob was
able to demonstrate to visitors the working parts of his wonderful scale
model of HMS Fearless which, like the real one lowers the stern end
below the water line so landing craft can be dispatched. Even the
operation of the rear loading ramp is radio controlled and Bob plans to
have radio controlled landing craft at a later date. |
|
Both Bob
and Martin are members of the Corby Model Boat Club and were able to
help visitors with any questions on model boat building.
T&R
Models would like to thank them both for their time and effort in
putting on a good show.
Please note
that there are several good model boat clubs in the area with sailing
waters available so check out our listing on the club section of our web
site and pop along to one of their meetings. |

| February
2005
On the 19th.February the Northampton
Narrow Gauge Club brought
to our shop several layouts ranging from a 12" by 8" seen
below right to part of a 2 foot by 12 foot layout called 'Kingston
Regis' seen right & below. |
 |
 |
This
magnificent layout has appeared in modeling magazines; at exhibitions
nationally and abroad; and came first a an exhibition in Holland in 2004
More pictures of this layout can be seen
on our gallery and on their web site www.kingstonregis.com |
| The
main feature of narrow gauge is being able to build a working layout in
a small space, & include scenic detail.
Narrow gauge modeling is
ideal to build a layout featuring narrow and twisting mountain passes
where a high degree of scenics can be attempted.
An example is the
preserved lines in Wales previously used to transport slate from the
mines to the ports. Others are industrial sites, coal mines, sand pits,
even transporting supplies to the front during world war two. |
 |
 |
As a
guide, 009 gauge is '00' gauge body size on 'N' gauge track making it
ideal for those wanting a small layout but not being able to handle
small outline trains.
The attention to detail was fantastic and
very encouraging to our customers and we would like to thank all the
members of the Northampton Narrow Gauge Club
for their time and effort in showing us all their very attractive style
of modeling.

| Full
details of this club are available on the club section of our web site.
