The
perfect gift to start a hobby of a life time
All the train sets listed
below are boxed sets containing everything required to run your
trains. The sets include track, control system and rolling stock
which varies depending on the set purchased.
Each set also contains a
track mat requiring a space of six (6) foot by four (4) foot. The track
mat should be glued to a piece of fibre board which is screwed to a
timber frame. The track is then pinned to the top of the track mat in
the positions marked.
Once the controls have been
connected to the track you are now ready to run and enjoy the trains.

This deceptively powerful Eddie Stobart locomotive is ideally suited to pull the various freight wagons included in this set. The lumber or timber truck has been loaded with recently cut trees which are being taken to the unloading bay further down the track.
The lumber wagon is slowly pulled alongside the unloading bay, a lever is then operated which tips the wagon body and the lumber rolls off into the wood bay. Once the lumber is unloaded the wagon body pivots onto the chassis ready to be taken back for another load.
This set also includes an oval of track with one point providing one siding, power supply, controller, and a
trackmat. |

The LNER class A1 number 4472 and classic teak coaches in this set depict the Flying Scotsman as it ran non-stop from London to Edinburgh during the summer seasons of the 1930's. The prototype locomotive had a corridor link through the tender to the coaches to allow crews to change over without having to stop the train.
This set includes the distinctive 'Flying Scotsman' 4472 locomotive, four teak carriages, power supply, controller, and an oval of track which includes an extra two points and track to provide two sidings. |

It can be argued that in the 1920s and 30s the British
railways network was in its heyday. Small locomotives were used with
some of the railway companies more mature rolling stock on small branch
lines and because of their age and in some cases disheveled appearance,
it is more than likely that at least one of these trains would have been
nick named “Old Smoky”!
The track circuit can be extended to fit the Midi Mat
included with the addition of Hornby Track and Accessory Packs |

The powerful Deltic locomotive included in this set
can make easy work of pulling the 5 assorted pieces of rolling stock
around the oval of track included with the set. A siding is also
incorporated into the oval so that simple shunting manoeuvres can be
performed by the enthusiastic operator.
The City Freight set harks back to the early days of
diesel traction and certainly looks impressive as it moves around the
track especially if the circuit is placed on the Midi TrakMat included
with the set. Additional track and buildings can be added to the layout.
An easy and ideal way of doing this is by using the Hornby Track and
Accessory Packs. |

The Blue Pullman special tour trains commenced
operation in January 2006 and fondly recall the Blue Pullman trains of
the 1960s.This evolution of the Blue Pullmans, which are successfully
operated by Hertfordshire Rail Tours and FM Rail now offer a variety of
excursions to cities, towns and visitor locations around the British
Isles, with the passengers enjoying their trip in superb comfort.
The Hornby Blue Pullman captures the luxurious style
and charm of the full size train. The specially liveried Class 47
locomotive pulls a selection of the Blue Pullman’s coaches around an
oval of track with siding which fits neatly onto the Hornby TrakMat
included with the set. With the addition of Hornby Track and Accessory
Packs the 6’ x 4’ TrakMat can soon become a model railway befitting
such an elegant set |

The most famous locomotive and train in the World
features in this high range Hornby train set. The striking LNER apple
green liveried Class A1 “Flying Scotsman” helps to recreate those
wonderful days of train travel in the 1930s when the two great rivals,
London North Eastern Railway and the London, Midland and Scottish
Railway vied for the lucrative passenger traffic between London and
Scotland.
Included with this set is the Hornby TrakMat which
accommodates with ease the large oval of track and two sidings. The
larger of the sidings which sits inside the oval can comfortably handle
the full train when operations have finished for the day. By using
additional Hornby Track and Accessory Packs a complete layout can be
constructed on the 6’ x 4’ TrakMat |

The Mallard Express
Many named express trains were cancelled during the
Second World War but after 1948 some of the more famous named services
were gradually reinstated by the then new British Railway Board; however
not all express train services were given names.
It was therefore quite common for enthusiasts of the
time to give trains 'nicknames' which quite probably might have
incorporated the class or name of the locomotive.
Being the holder of the World record for steam powered
locomotives the 'Mallard' locomotive was invariably rostered to haul
express trains from London, Kings Cross to the north of England or even
further to Edinburgh, Waverly. In such instances, if the service was not
named the train was given the title of 'The Mallard Express. |

The Venice Simplon Orient Express Train Set
Inspired by the luxurious rail experience which is the Venice-Simplon Orient Express, this beautifully presented and incredibly complete train set makes a perfect gift for those looking for a creative and rewarding pastime. Not only does this set have a top-of-the-range locomotive but also three sensational Pullman cars which are complete with extensive detail and table lamps that actually light when the train is in motion. The substantial double track circuit is large enough to allow an additional train to be added at a later date to either the inner or outer oval and it is for this reason that the HM2000 twin controller has also been included so that two trains can be independently controlled while operating on the two seperate circuits. And when it comes to planning a larger layout, the Hornby Virtual Railway CD-Rom, also included, will help the user to do just that! |

The Master Cutler Set
Recreate the early days of British Railways with this stunning all inclusive train set. Marvel at the intricate detail on the scale model Class A3 'Prince Palatine' locomotive or gaze through the windows of the superbly modelled coaches and imagine those days when the 'Master Cutler' express powered its way south from Sheffield carrying business men to their meetings in London.
The abundance of track coupled with the inclusion of the HM2000 transformer/controller means that this set is the start of a complete model railway layout. Using the TrakMat included, this set can be gradually built up with the addition for further locomotives, rolling stock, track, buildings and scenic material all obtainable from the Hornby range. And to assist further development of the set, the Hornby Virtual Railway CD-Rom is also included.
Also available is an extension coach pack, containing BR Gresley coaches.

You can really see the benefits of Digital Control once this set is assembled. Each of the two locomotives has a decoder factory fitted and are immediately ready for operation. Independent control is guaranteed for each loco even though they may both be on the same track. When the powerful diesel locomotive is coupled to the four wagons included with the set, the Class 08 diesel can then pull them round the circuit just stopping in front of the little 0-6-0 'Jinty'. The 'Jinty' can then be reversed carefully so that it couples to the front of the 08. Then by programming the engines to work in unison the double headed train can move off down the track. The set includes a new design Hornby TrakMat.
